Life Update
I am incredibly proud and excited to announce that I'll be leading the Foundations of Video Storytelling course for the Communication Leadership graduate program at the University of Washington this Autumn quarter!
I didn't dish out too much of my UW history in the video announcement but a lot of my life has been shaped by my university experience. At an academic level I earned a certificate in Audio Engineering, a bachelors in Communication, and a masters degree all from the University of Washington. On a personal level though I met my wife, I had my first video marketing job, and I won my first video storytelling awards all while attending UW.
Rolling up to campus with a camera in my backpack and big dreams of taking over the Seattle video marketing scene feels like a lifetime ago. As it should, I started my education at UW in 2012 so it was a decade plus a pandemic ago.
I wrapped up my undergraduate in 2014 which feels so long ago now!
I've grown so much since chasing down simple editing gigs across campus in my early years and I am excited to be returning with all of the knowledge that I've gained out in the real world of visual storytelling. I’ve seen how powerful stories are created, how gear can make or break a production, and why being consistent matters.
I am ready to distill all of my learnings and empower the next generation of storytellers, just how my mentors did for me.
If you’re already a member of our amazing Comm Lead community, I look forward to potentially having you in my class! If you aren’t… it’s kind of amazing and you should look into whether or not the program would be a good fit for you and your career trajectory - it was a game changer for me.
